Zoo Animals Area and Perimeter
The last week of school is always fun for review. It's nice to know that everything has been taught! We've been working on animal reports, animal shape poems, our animal wax museum, and today we used our animals for area and perimeter.

Class Books
I love having my students make class books. This week they made a compound word book for Harriet Tubman Wanted: Dead or Alive by Ann McGovern. This is one of my favorite books to read with my class. They are fascinated with the subject and they never want to stop reading after just one chapter. They will also be making a chapter summary book for this book.
Here's a little peek at their book. It'll be in my store soon.
They each selected a compound word and wrote a sentence about the story using the word. Isn't that sunrise amazing?

Mother's Day Gift Idea
My parents loved the coasters that we made for our silent auction, so I thought it'd be the perfect gift for Mother's Day. There's just something about using Sharpies and tiles. They could draw all day with them. Can you tell that it's ball season?

Gifts for Parents
Each year, my students make a calendar for their parents. They choose a theme for their calendar and draw a picture for each month and a cover. They are so much fun to look at. Here are two of my favorite pictures from one calendar. The boy picked farming and I just love these pictures and the details!
