Pictographs and More Pictographs

This week we are continuing graphing and we made more pictographs today. After using this activity as a cut and paste lesson, the students had to create their own by drawing.

Someone was spoiled at Easter. She enjoyed having us at home for a week and going for her first visit to a dog park.  She loved the park and met a lot of BIG dogs.  They were all very friendly and she was curious and polite.

Pictographs

We had fun making pictographs today!  There is some flexibility built into this product.  The pieces can be laminated and re-used, or copies can be made and students can cut and paste onto the graph. I chose to use it as a cut and paste activity this year since all of my students really needed a review and this is a fun way to practice.

Graphing

We've been busy with making graphs!  This is one of my favorite products. Instead of using the laminated colored pieces with individual students, I just copied the information and we worked on the graphs together using the projector. Tomorrow we'll make some pictographs as cut and paste activities.

After spring break we will work on line plots and some more review using my graphing book!

Just before testing, we'll review with scavenger hunts to get the students up and moving around.  This great bundle includes the graph making and scavenger hunts.

Is it Spring Yet?

Lily is sporting her new purple collar for big girls.  She's almost 4 1/2 months and wanted to wear a girly color.  No more blue for her.

I'm looking forward to the warmer weather this week so my students get outside to play and so Lily and I can enjoy the weather after work!

Ready for Spring

We are ready for spring to arrive!  We've enjoyed a few days of spring like weather, but we want more so we can walk.

Lily

This sweet little girl is 3 1/2 months now and she's keeping us pretty busy.  The newborn puppy sleepy stage doesn't last very long and she seems to be a toddler who is curious about everything.  As much as I'd love a few snow days, I've appreciated this mild winter so she can get outside some.  Bostons are energetic little dogs and tired pups are good pups.

More destructive than a toddler at times!  She wanted to claim this by jumping in the picture!  When my son was little we really didn't have great phones, so now I'm going overboard catching puppy moments on my phone.

She's been a great addition to our family and is helping me leave work earlier and we are all stepping away from the computer a lot more.  I don't step on Legos at home anymore either.
Last week my students worked on their descriptive hearts!  They love this activity and they are becoming so much better as using descriptive words.  This year we made it a hallway display and number the paragraphs and hearts so others could try to match hearts with the descriptions.  It was perfect time for conferences, too!

This cute little girl has been keeping me busy since December.  We brought Lily home to surprise my son on December 18th.  She's the cutest little puppy! I've taken a break from the computer so that I can work with Lily.  She's full of energy and a lot of fun!  I haven't had my own puppy since I was a in high school, so this has been quite an experience.   Lily is a Boston Terrier.
